The multicultural school context for discussing: sex education

Abstract

Brazil grows in awareness of the importance of education as a necessary step to deal with situations of prejudice and discrimination, and ensure effective participation of all the different social spaces opportunities instrument. In this context, the issue of sexual education is perceived as a necessary discussion on installed intercultural context. In this sense, the school can be seen as a space to contribute to building a critical awareness and development guided by respect for diversity and human rights practices. Therefore, this article presents some thoughts on sex education in school. In its theoretical basis, research is anchored in authors like Junqueira (2009); Fry (1982; 1983); Louro (1999; 2004); Seffner (2009). In his methodological approach, based on a literature search, which involved the readings for the contemporary cultural context and sex education in school. The results indicate the need to promote actions that provide professional guidelines of education and teaching guidelines to consolidate a culture of respect for diversity of sexual orientation and gender identity, as it is called to contribute to address the prejudices of struggle and discrimination, so that there is no impediment to participation in the social sphere and the reproduction of the perverse logic of oppression and increasing inequalities are minimized and not proliferating.
